YOU MAKE MY HEART EXPLODE (Recaps of Terror Pigeon, Netherfriends, Mokaad + more!)

Sunday, September 11, 2011

Listen, this week was super stressful. Like really stressful. Our little hearts aren't exactly PROGRAMMED (harharhar) to handle the kind of stress that this week brought. So this weekend was definitely something we needed and hope that you felt the same.

First up was Thursday night's show with Netherfriends and Terror Pigeon Dance Revolt. Things that day were definitely stressy and steamy, and like two things fell through:

  1. Burritos. We were supposed to get burritos, hundreds of them, and we couldn't. I won't say why, but just know that it was beyond our power. If we could, we would have burritos available everyday to give to you. We'd have some in our pockets so you could just walk up to us and ask for one whenever you want.
  2. The opening band dropped off last minute!
So some plans didn't end up going our way, but anyway it wound up being SO GOOD!

Here is Netherfriends' last song of the night in shitty video quality:

and an absolutely gorgeous montage of Terror Pigeon's set thanks to David Grimaldi!

And the next day was Friday, of course, which ended in an incredible show on mainstage with Mokaad, Ms. Lady, EMEFE and Rainbow Children! Here's a clip from their encore:

All in all we had a great weekend and are even more psyched for this upcoming week! Keep an eye out for events as they're posted on the blog. Also make sure you don't miss the newly posted calendar on the right over there of all the events for the fall semester!

Know that this is just a basic calendar so we will all have stuff to do all the time, but we are definitely always looking for suggestions and ideas from y'all! Please make sure you've joined the Facebook group and know our e-mail is purchaseeventsbrigade[at]gmail[dot]com.

Alright, gonna go make dinner. Enjoy!

Speaking of events...HOW EXCITED ARE YOU? We are SO excited and have been working more or less every day of break to make sure that this semester is one full of adrenaline, sweat and smiles. Was that a little cornball?

Waking Dream Puppet Company/Kilimanjaro/Bees/Weekends @ the Great Lawn, SUNY Purchase 11/21

Sunday, November 21, 2010

We've been biding our time for the perfect Great Lawn show all semester...maybe we've been biding a little too long, since there's a low of 38 degrees tonight. Hopefully our flood lights and body heat will fight the chill off as the lawn becomes crowded with puppets a la the Waking Dream Puppet Company. Construction of the puppets will begin at 3PM in the Food Co-Op (above the Dining Hall), and at 7PM they will be paraded to the lawn where games and fun will be had.

Since every great performance needs its accompaniment, there will be four bands performing on the lawn as well-- Bees, Weekends, Mechanics of the Heart (Purchase born and bred) and Kilimanjaro, the new project spawning from the beloved As Tall As Lions.

See a little of what Waking Dream will bring tonight in this video. The soundtrack is 'Two Personages' by Kilimanjaro, off of their second EP.

SUNY Purchase Events for the Week of 11/14-11/21

Sunday, November 14, 2010

It's that awkward time again where you start underestimating the time between now and winter break because Thanksgiving break makes everything seem so rosy. Well, let's face it. There are still a couple of weeks of classes and a couple of weeks of events left.

This week, we bring you something pretty refreshing, which may include a puppet company marching on the Great Lawn. The event will be a pretty diverse one, including music, marching and puppets via Stefan Fink's senior project. Keep an eye out for more details on that this weekend.
